Established designer, Junya Watanabe is so inspirational for fledgling designers. His career began in 1984 after graduation where he began working for Comme des Garcon. Designers like this are so inspirational to me because just when you think “It’s all been done,” along comes Junya.
Talk about a fresh take on a women’s wear. Junya Watanabe’s Fall 2012 collection is a borage of tailored items with a balance of feminine and masculine lines. Japanese couture designer, Junya, is known for his unusually structured clothing. So much so that his styles have been called “techno Couture.” Whatever it is, it’s got my attention.
The trick to creating a successful androgynous look is to focus on at least one feminine detail and Junya never fails: a masculine pinstripe on a slim fit trouser, a loose fitting dress in a capricious yet feminine print, a cropped fitted vest paired with a harem pant… love! Here’s to thinking outside the box! Cheers!
