Writing blogs about your indie design darlings is pretty rewarding, so you can imagine the pure joy I experience when I get to have a one on one conversation with one of you guys; it’s the highlight of my whole week! Hearing your story, learning what motivates you to design – I live for that! Last weekend, I met the most adorable fun sized lady named Melody Ginn. We met opening day at her new store The Laughing Willow in the Bishop Arts District. I asked if any of the designers in the store were indie and that’s when I learned that she was a designer herself… but not for The Laughing Willow. Melody designs custom veils for her other boutique (and first baby) – Emma’s Bridal Boutique in Red Oak.
Melody’s story starts out similar to many you’ve heard before – just a hobby. Melody was a stay at home mom at the time and she was asked to make a veil. That one order turned into a couple a week, which then turned into multiple orders a day, and before she knew it she was getting more orders than she could fill by herself. And that’s how Emma’s Bridal Boutique was born – offering bridal gowns, prom dresses, shoes, tiaras and of course, Melody’s gorgeous veils.
